  • Lavender essential oil is a “True Lavender” from Bulgaria, southeast portion of Europe. Soaps Creams & Things sources an Organic Lavandula Angustifolia, to ensure that the Lavender Essential Oil is a "True" organic, non-GMO plant and not a hybrid that produces Spike Lavendin essential oil.

Soaps Creams & Things essential oils are guaranteed to be high-grade oils. Our source vendors use the method of distillation by steam. This method allows for a much concentrated essential oil and backs up the claims that help with relaxation and sleep, soothing discomforts from headaches and burns.

What is the difference between Spike Lavendin and True Lavender? The difference is that both are plants, however, one is a hybrid plant. When Lavandula Angustifolia (True Lavender) and Lavandula Latifolia are crossed, a hybrid plant is created. The hybrid, called Lavandula x intermedia, is the plant that produces Lavendin essential oil, otherwise known as Spike Lavendin. Lavendin still has aroma therapeutic properties, but compared to English Lavender it becomes a more inferior oil. The aroma of Spike is a more medicinal aroma due to its higher camphor content, which is sometimes used in cleaning products as an antiseptic for its sharp and robust aroma, while the True Lavender has a more subtle, easy-going, but still strong aroma.

Spike Lavendin is still a good essential oil, however, Lavandula Angustifolia is considered, by botanist, as the Mother of all Lavenders.
