Handcrafted goat milk soaps are not a fad but more of a trend because milk soaps have been around for centuries. Romans, Chinese, and Egyptians all had a calling for soap; at first, it was mainly for laundry use, keeping clean and smelling nice however, become a necessity..a way of life since 10,000 BC (1).
Fast forward to 2020 AD; synthetic soaps have failed us. We have skin that is chapping, cracking, itchy, irritated or has developed psoriasis; all from commercial synthetic soaps. Mostly because these soaps have fillers, preservatives, dyes, and synthetic fragrances that are not compatible with the skin. All our milk soaps at Soaps Creams & Things are natural and when it comes to a bar of an all-natural soap bar, Soaps Creams & Things uses responsibly sourced; and never tested on animals ingredients.
The traditional way of making soap is by adding sodium hydroxide and distilled water. The water dissolves the sodium hydroxide (lye) making the base so that fats and oil become an acid; this creates a salt paste called soap (2). When making goat milk soap, the water is replaced with goat milk, and adding plant-based oils like olive, coconut, grapeseed, castor, sunflower, and sweet almond oils, contributes to additional benefits that are amazing. These benefits are rich in alpha-hydroxy and hyaluronic acids, tools necessary in the exfoliation of the skin, and the nourishment to reproduce healthy skin every 28 days.
Additional benefits of a milk soap:
Rich in nutrients
Improves dry skin
A natural exfoliant
Supports a healthy skin microbiome - the collection of healthy bacteria on your skin’s surface (3)
So the answer to the question, "Is Goat Milk a Trend or Fad," Goat Milk soap is a trend that will last for as long as we have goats.
